About Us
Material Matters is an importer of fine quality homewares that are ideal for both formal and casual living. Unique prints decorate our linen, ceramics and nightwear ranges to add vibrancy to your home. The motifs on our linen products are rendered using the traditional method of hand block printing and all our ceramic products are hand painted. Textile production is a traditional occupation in many villages in Rajasthan, India, where families maintain business that have survived for generations.
Many of the motifs are inspired by nature; flowers, leaves, birds, aquatic life are combined with geometric patterns to achieve amazing results. Print colours are mixed freshly each day, giving each print a distinct vibrancy. Material Matters liaises with artisans in Rajasthan to import these beautiful textiles to Australia. As well as our home decor and nightwear products, Material Matters has a selection of ceramics in bright and bold designs in keeping with the rest of the range. Material Matters liases with artisans in Rajasthan, India to import these beautiful textiles to Australia. Trained from a young age in the Indian block printing tradition, each man in the studio is responsible for one block that he carefully stamps onto the fabric in perfect position.
